Last weekend we did something out of the ordinary. We stayed in our house WITHOUT kids. It’s actually never happened. So we took the opportunity to scope out a new restaurant in Memphis off of Broad Ave for an early dinner. The Liquor Store boasts thirst-quenching cocktails, nightly specials, homemade sweets and breakfast is served all day.
We grabbed one of the tropical tables and admired the decor complete with a diner feel amidst the long counter lined with retro-inspired bar stools.
The intriguing list of cocktails were hard to choose from, but I settled for the Pisco and it did not disappoint.
The menu is quite eclectic, complete with a Cuban sandwich, burgers and salads. I opted for the blue burger with plantain chips and my husband ordered the Salisbury steak. Both were pretty amazing.
The location is in an up-and-coming neighborhood that has been attracting many new restaurants and shops to the area, although there’s nothing quite like this one off of the Broad strip. The menu at the Liquor Store is entirely unique of any other restaurant I have been to in Memphis.
We enjoyed it for dinner but we’d love to go back when we’re feeling up for breakfast food. It would also be a great place to stop in just for drinks and dessert. (Photo credit below: yelper Luis T.)
That evening we ended up making it home early, built a fire and roasted a few marshmallows.
And our daughter (and son) enjoyed an overnight stay with their favorite babysitter squeezing this poor cat all evening.
Where have you been adventuring in your city lately?
